RWCS Commemorative 1993, Bell-Style Chicken Fount and Saucer
This commemorative was issued at the Red Wing Collectors Society annual convention in 1993. It is a miniature chicken fount in the bell style with the matching saucer. The Red Wing Stoneware and Red Wing Union Stoneware companies produced the original bell-style chicken founts in the early 1900's. The front of the commemorative is decorated with a decal in blue lettering which states: RED WING The back of the commemorative is also decorated with decal in blue lettering. This one states: RED WING The bottom of the saucer is decorated with the incised mold marks RWCS and1993. The 1993 commemorative was produced by the Western Stoneware Company. Fewer than 5000 were ever made. An extra sometimes included with the commemorative is a folded card which is printed with more detailed information on the chicken fount product. The Red Wing Collectors Society has issued a commemorative, a miniature facsimile of an actual Red Wing company's product, at their annual convention since 1977. These products were not manufactured by Red Wing, but have become highly collectible in their own right. The organization for and by collectors of Red Wing is the Red Wing Collectors Society. The society consigns the production of various collectible items that commemorate the Red Wing stoneware companies, the society itself and their annual convention. Collecting Red Wing stoneware, dinnerware and art pottery can be a rewarding and exciting hobby. These Red Wing collectibles will enhance your collection!
