RWCS Commemorative 1991, Pantry Jar and Cover
This commemorative was issued at the Red Wing Collectors Society annual convention in 1991. It is a miniature pantry jar with matching cover. The Red Wing Union Stoneware company produced the original pantry jars in the early 1900's. The front of the commemorative is decorated with a decal which shows the red wing in the traditional pantry jar style. The back of the commemorative is also decorated with a decal, this one in blue lettering which states: RED WING COLLECTORS SOCIETY Only around 3500 of the 1991 commemorative were ever produced. An extra sometimes included with the commemorative is a card stating that I was there. The Red Wing Collectors Society has issued a commemorative, a miniature facsimile of an actual Red Wing company's product, at their annual convention since 1977. These products were not manufactured by Red Wing, but have become highly collectible in their own right. The organization for and by collectors of Red Wing is the Red Wing Collectors Society. The society consigns the production of various collectible items that commemorate the Red Wing stoneware companies, the society itself and their annual convention.
